<p>Johns Hopkins is a reach but seems to match your preference. It focuses heavily on research, and obviously has an excellent reputation in the math/sciences(their humanities are also pretty strong). It’s in Baltimore. Baltimore is not very popular with a lot of applicants, but most current students say the school takes your safety very seriously and that they’ve grown to really like Baltimore (or at least tolerate it).</p>
