<p>I usually don't have a problem with any Hard's with the exception of this problem. I am almost positive I am not seeing something which I normally would, let me know what you think. This is the last question by the way.</p>

<p>18)Esther drove to work in the morning at an average speed of 45 miles per hour. She returned home in the evening along the same toure and averaged 30 miles per hour. If esther spent a total of one hour commuting to and from work, how many miles did Esther drive to work in the morning?</p>

<p>rate = distance/time </p>

<p>time = distance/rate</p>

<p>d/30 + d/45 = 1 // time is equal to one, so we're adding the times derived from the rate equation for both directions</p>

<p>45d + 30d = 1350
75d = 1350
d = 18</p>
