My orientation is in just a few days (I had to pick the last one) and I have absolutely no clue what I want to take! I'm thinking at least or about 15 credit hours. The thing is, I'm undecided but thinking of switching, somehow, from L&S to CoE. ALL of my early requirements (American cultures, both English, etc.) are taken care of. The only thing I know for sure-ish is Math 1A. What else? :O
Please throw around some ideas!!

EDIT: I'm thinking of either Civil Engineering if I get into CoE or, at least for now, EEP in the L&S. I don't want to pick a fluffy semester 1 and then later on realize I wasted an entire semester

You already took an American Cultures course?

Here is the College of Engineering’s information for new students:
[INFORMATION FOR NEW FALL 2011 FRESHMEN — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/new-students/information-for-new-freshman.html)

If you have had calculus in high school, you may be able to take a more advanced math course than Math 1A. If so, see this page, which includes sample Math 1A and 1B final exams:
[Choosing an Appropriate First Math Course — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/new-students/choosing-an-appropriate-first-math-course.html)

Note that the College of Engineering allows at most R&C A (not R&C B) to be fulfilled with AP credit. However, if you fulfilled both R&C A and B for L&S with a 5 on AP English Literature, you may not want to take R&C B immediately in case you decide not to switch to the College of Engineering.

A typical first semester freshman schedule for civil engineering if you start with Math 1A is:

Math 1A
Chemistry 1A/1AL
R&C or Humanities / Social Studies
Engineering 10 or 7
Civil Engineering 92

Second semester would typically be:

Math 1B
Physics 7A
R&C or Humanities / Social Studies
Engineering 7 or 10

To change college to the College of Engineering, see here:
[Change of College — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/prospective-students/admissions/change-of-college)

For Environmental Economics and Policy, additional courses that you will need are Economics 1 or EEP 1, Economics 101A or 100A or EEP 100, and Statistics 20 or 21 (if you take the Economics courses instead of the EEP courses, you’ll also have the option for the regular Economics major). You can use the Economics or EEP courses on the Humanities / Social Studies requirement for the College of Engineering, so if you already have at least R&C A fulfilled, you may want to take Economics 1 or EEP 1 in your first or second semester (where a Humanities / Social Studies course is listed).
