Thanks for the clarification! And yeah I know my ACT is a tad low but that was a first time so I am hoping to improve! @Lindagaf
And again, I am no expert, but I think Penn and Dartmouth are also quite sporty. I think Penn might be a little more Frat Boy, and Dartmouth might be a little more Old Boy’s Club. And HYP are HYP, though I personally think Yale sounds the coolest of those three. Please, those in the know, correct me if totally off base.
OP, look at Denison in Ohio, good sports and prob good merit for someone like you. Also, Franklin and Marshall, a great LAC in Penn, I think you would love it.
^ Denison is a great school. It’s liberal overall, but pretty moderate as far as LACs go. I’d say you’d get at least a half tuition scholarship. The professors are phenomenal and it’s only 30 minutes from Columbus. Also a ton of people who look at Denison also look at Dickinson, so I’d check them out too. You’d definitely get in with merit at both places.
The other schools I would recommend to you are in the middle of nowhere so you probably wouldn’t enjoy them haha. Davidson would be another good choice, but it’s a reach. All of these schools are pretty small, though with 1500-2200 students. I’m not sure if you’re looking for a small school, but I went to a liberal arts school so am very biased towards LACs hehe.
@cats1290 Davidson is actually REALLY close to my house which is a reason why I am looking farther away. The idea of adventure excites me!
Maybe check out Macalester too? It’s another really great liberal arts school and it’s one of the few LACs in a city (St. Paul, MN).
And another plug for Denison, it prides itself as having the best of both worlds in terms of location. It’s located in Granville, which is a charming small New England style town. Since it’s so close to Columbus, a lot of students go there on the weekend for food and shopping and many also do internships/externships with companies in Columbus.
I’m sure there are a ton of east coast schools that would also be great, but when I was looking for colleges, I only was looking at the midwest.
