Please tell me what you think! you can add colleges if you think there is a good one i should consider, or if you dont think i'll get into any of these.

how can u do all of those? hasnt MITES started already? and EPGY overlaps with the time

oh sorry i didnt make that clear. Those are all my summer activities for my high school years

so you're at MITES right now and EPGY was last year right? I'm quite jealous cuz I didnt get into MITES this year...lol. I think that MITES will help you incredibly since like 80 percent of MITES got into MIT last year I think. Thats about the only school I can help you with.

thanks! hmm anyone else have a take on this?

what are my chances for stanford, my #1?

Your chances at Stanford are the same as all the 2400 valedictorians applying to Stanford, as well as the athletes with 2000s, URMs with a 2100s, and rich legacies with 2200s.

Best of luck to you. If it's your number 1 choice though, definitely apply SCEA. That will help you get in and increase your chances a good amount.

Wowzers, MITES 05 right here... I think you have a good shot everywhere, but that GPA is definitely going to hurt you, but if you do well at MITES, and it's reflected in evaluations, it'll help offset the GPA. I think the toughest schools on your list are: Princeton, Stanford, and Berkeley. Princeton is arguably the toughest school to get into because of their low acceptance rate in RD, and both Stanford and Berkeley don't accept supplementary materials, such as your evaluations. You definitely have a good shot at MIT if you are able to network and do well this summer.

2forme:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCD: Safety

...You said you're Caucasian. MITES is for minority students. Caucasian is not a minority.

Want to explain this one to me?

You no longer have to be a minority to participate in MITES.

Then why is it still called "MINORITY Introduction to Engineering/Entrepreneurship/Science" or whatever those last couple of words are?

I'm confused.

minority just mean that ur from a disadvantaged background

It's illegal in the United States for a lot of former minorities-only programs to operate as they once did. They can still market themselves mostly to minority students (that is a legal, and in my opinion commendable, form of "affirmative action") but they can no longer restrict their program solely to ethnic minorities. A lot depends on whether or not the program is supported by taxes--a private donor has more freedom to treat people unequally than a government entity.

Which courses did you take at MITES and do you think you will get good evaluations from them.

also, there were only three people from boston this year, and only one was caucasian and I don't think he had taken Calc, so are you just making this stuff up? if not, who are you?

did you actually attend MITES 2006 or were you just accepted and then declined to go?
