Hi, I'm wondering if 1)Applied Math 2)Staticstics 3)Actuarial Science and 4)Computer Science are considered as academically rigorous as most engineering degrees.

Academically rigorous, meaning, the amount of time devoted, and intellectual ability required. I really want to challenge myself in college, but I think engineering may be too much of a challenge for me :(

So, are any of the 4 choices above comparable to engineering (EE, ChE, BME, MechE, etc) in terms of rigor? Does this differ significantly across schools?

I think that when some people say engineering is hard, usually it is because of the mathematics required. I don’t know much about Actuarial Science, but Applied Math, CS, and Statistics programs are math intensive–probably more math intensive than engineering degrees.

Lol. you’ve been listening too much to engineering students complain. You don’t need to be a genius to succeed in engineering, even if a lot of engineering students like to fashion themselves as such.

Engineering is just like any other job. If you enjoy what you are doing it will be easier. I want to go into ChemE because I love math and chemistry. I would find going into Philosophy or Journalism to be the hardest thing because I do not like English or Writing. Based on preference.
