I'm starting community college this fall, and i'm hoping to transfer next year either fall or spring of 2015. When are the deadlines for transfer apps? I want to finish both semesters before applying, so when should I apply? Can I retake my SAT again in 2014-2015 and send that in too? One more question, if I apply for spring do I have to continue attending community college until I transfer schools in mid-late January? thanks

I’m a transfer student beginning my sophomore year at GW this fall and I spent my freshman year at a community college. Look for deadlines on the website. If you really want to finish both semesters it would make sense to apply spring of 2015, but I personally applied during my second semester and found that it was plenty of time. Just make sure you really put in a lot of energy on building a kickass application during that first semester if you decide to apply for fall.

As for the SAT, you’re free to retake it if you’d like to aim for a better score but I recommend spending your time and effort on your essays, extracurriculars, and grades at community college instead since admissions officers place a lot more importance on these factors, especially for transfers.

If you decide to apply for spring you should definitely attend the full fall semester while you’re applying since you’ll be able to get credits for much cheaper. And of course don’t go the spring semester since you’ll have to leave anyway.

It seems like a pretty stressful process at the time but if you have your goals set in sight and work really hard this year I don’t think you’ll have any trouble going to GW or any of the other schools you posted to. Hope this helps and good luck!
