URochester and CWRU are similar in character and rigor to several of your reach schools - they’re too selective to call safeties but they’re likely matches based on your assessment of your qualifications. William and Mary would be another in this category. URichmond could both be worth a look - great performing arts. Maybe Brandeis could be a good safety. Hamilton College is strong in theater and is academically rigorous as well.
Agree that UVM would make a great safety - it’s very strong in all things environmental, not too large with a geographically diverse student body, in a gorgeous setting with a great college town. Also agree with the suggestions of Wake Forest and Wesleyan. Maybe U of Miami? (Just over the 10K line in size)
How about the women’s colleges that are in consortia with schools you’re already interested in? Mount Holyoke would probably be a safety, and the 5 college consortium means that your experience in theater need not be single-gender. (Smith too, but it’s slightly more selective and I think not quite as artsy, though people who know it better may correct me.) Likewise if Swarthmore interests you, look at Bryn Mawr.
Just sharing some insight on Wake Forest per earlier recommendations. My son is a first year at Wake Forest and double majoring in Communications and Theatre. Excellent Theatre department! Wake is 5,000 undergrad and 3,000 grad students… four beautiful seasons in Winston Salem NC. My son really liked that most of the Theatre majors there have a second major. (Some schools keep their Theatre majors so tied up with ‘theatre’ that it is hard to study a second subject.) Wake is taking a group of theatre majors (incl my son) to NYC over Christmas break to meet people in the industry and learn more about theatre. Gorgeous campus - often voted in the lists of ‘most beautiful campuses’. I should mention that Environmental Science is only a minor there, not a major.
I think you will get into Muhlenberg College and Ohio State, so if you are willing to go to either of those two,
I would not stress out applying to a lot of schools below your stats. You have great stats. Just don’t get settled
on any one dream school and you will be fine, so don’t get into a funk over Brown or Yale. If you have to, transfer, if you land at Ohio State or another safety school, and its not really meeting your educational needs.
You have a great college list. Relax. Expect some rejects, but have some confidence too.
I would look at UVM and Skidmore. Both in great locations. Skidmore might have the better theatre/arts and UVM the better Environmental Science but they are both solid choices for your point of studies.
@Coloradomama I have to say that advice was really calming, thank you very much! I actually found out that I did get into OSU (yay!) and am waiting to hear back about the honors college, so I feel a bit better. Great advice - I have to remember that I am definitely going to face rejection
