I’m a prospective Chemical Engineering transfer student looking to transfer in Summer 2018. I’m trying to figure out how hard it is to get into my major in comparison to other engineering majors.
Please rank for my knowledge and that of other readers.
BME
Mechanical
ChemE
Industrial
Civil
Aerospace
Computer Science
Electrical
I don’t think anyone really knows the answer to that question.
In general, we know that Mechanical/Aero, Electrical and BME are some of the most competitive. While Civil and Computer Science are not nearly as competitive. Chem E and Industrial fall in the middle, somewhere.
Being competitive isn’t about how good the program is, but on the programs limited capacity to take on new students and on the number of applicants into that major (popularity). Mechanical/Aero may be the most popular major at UF.
Based on friends, BME is the most competitive in my opinion.
Just look up the data that shows how many students major in each… The least popular one will likely be the least competitive, but will probably only be no more than a tad easier to get into.
