Please rank my UC schools as either reach, match, or safety?

I am currently a high school senior in California and I am trying to determine which UC schools are reach, match, and safeties for me. I am planning on applying to LA (dream school), Berkeley, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Davis, and Irvine. I will list my stats below:

I am planning on majoring in either Computer Science or something Biology. I would sincerely appreciate having my UC schools (UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCI) marked as either reach, match, or safety. Thank you!

As long as you’ve completed the a-g course list, You are a very strong candidate for all the UCs. I’d consider any but UCM, UCR and UCSC safety’s, particularly if you are ELC.

Thank you NCalRent for your feedback!

I’d say, based on admissions the past few years…

Low reach: UCB, UCLA
High match: UCSD
Match: UCD, UCI, UCSB

I’m hesitant to call UCB or UCLA anything other than some form of reach with how admissions have been. Similarly with UCSD, I wouldn’t quite call it a reach but am hesitant to call it a typical match with how admissions have been.

Regardless, you’re a good candidate for all UCs. I’d recommend adding at least one of the other three UCs and at least one CSU to your list as safeties, and you should be golden!

Thanks so much PhantomVirgo for your input! I’ll definitely look into some CSU schools.

UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

I agree with @PhantomVirgo’s assessment. You are a competitive applicant but I would add UCR/UCSC/SDSU or CSULB as a safety.

Yeah I’m not sure what your UC GPA is. But I’ll give you a rough idea

Low Reach: UCB, UCLA
High Match: UCSD
Match: UCD, UCSB, UCI
Safety: UCSC, UCR, UCM

@Gumbymom and @RHSclassof16 my UC GPA is a 3.88 if I calculated correctly

UC GPA is below average for the Mid-tier UC’s, although your SAT is very competitive. UCI/UCD/UCSB would be High Match/Match depending upon how your essays and EC’s are received by admissions. UCSC is a solid Match and UCR/UCM would be Safeties.

UC GPA is low.

UCB - high reach
UCLA - reach
UCSD - low reach
UCSB/D/I - match to high match
UCSC - low match
UCR/M - safety

You UW GPA is low, so I think UCB and UCLA are reaches. UCSD could be low reach to match. The rest could be matches but not safeties. Maybe UCR is your safety.
