Hello all, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me my chances at Brandeis. It’s a great school in terms of academics, and it would be my number one (would apply ED in fact, but…) I’m just worried about it financially. Now, I’m starting to worry if I’ll even get in…

GPA: 3.4 (unweighted) 4.1 (weighted) I know, my GPA sucks because of my freshman year grades. They significantly progressed throughout the years, and I only got A’s and B’s my junior year.
I am also an IB student (International Baccalaureate) with an HL in English, History, and Visual Arts. IB is known for a rigorous workload.

SAT: First time 1930 (610 reading, 600 math, 730 writing). I want to take it again and score over 2000+ but we’ll see…

EC’s
4 years of varsity swim and dive → Fastest female point earner for all four years (I am a competitive year round swimmer. Don’t have the fastest times but I could DEFINITELY swim at Brandeis. Don’t know about getting a scholarship based on that, however)
3 years of Journalism Academy → online editor-in-chief two years, Integrity Chief one year
National Art Honor Society → treasurer junior year, secretary senior year. I’ve technically been a freelance graphic designer but it’s really more of a hobby. I also won a scholarship for an art class dealing with oils that I’m taking this year.
Culture/International Club → Secretary senior year
Echoes Literary Magazine → associate editor
Ski and snowboard club → member for two years
Jewish Student Union → member (I also wrote my Extended Essay on Judaic studies… but don’t know if this helps?)
and my acceptance to NHS is pending… don’t know if I’ll get in yet.
Piano → piano tutor

200+ hours of community service (at Art Camps and retirement homes). I went on a self-initiated volunteer trip to Moldova, the poorest country in Europe, this past summer to work with children in an orphanage. Don’t really know if colleges take this into consideration, though?

Rec’s
the IB coordinator is (hopefully) giving an excellent one
might get my journalism teacher to give one…
and I have this coach that I worked with over the summer who loves me. One of his swimmers goes to Brandeis now. Would getting his recommendation help me in any way?

Thank you so much! It’s really my GPA that has me constantly worried. How much does Brandeis take this into account? And, if you have any idea, what schools could be safeties or good fits? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME!
