Chance me for mid atlantic/north eastern schools including: Pitt, PSU, CMU, Cornell, Lehigh. If you have any other colleges in mind that you think would admit me and are know for BME, ChemE, or MaterialsE.
Good chance. Don’t call being gifted an EC. It is presumed everyone attending those colleges is gifted!
Oh, I sort of wrote that to encompass a bunch of stuff we have done that are exclusive to the gifted program, including quiz bowl leagues, science olympiad, chess competition, educational tours of zoo museums etc., and some other stuff.
@Kylemcgrogan don’t bump yourself three times in one day. that’s just too much. people will see this. also, do you have any AP scores?
but to answer your original question:
CMU: low reach. your SAT score is too low.
Cornell: reach
PSU: safety
Pitt: should be safety. maybe target.
Have you considered other schools? Maybe NYU?
No, we weren’t allowed to take AP’s in 9th or 10th grades, but I took the test for Calc AB and Chem and will most likely get a 5 and a 4 respectively. Also, it’d be awesome of you could come up with some other names you know of that’d satisfy the categories of safeties, matches, and reaches.
Cornell: Reach (~10% chance)
CMU: Low reach (~20% chance)
Lehigh: Low match (~65% chance)
PSU: Low match (~80% chance)
Pitt: Low match (~90% chance)
If Pitt and PSU are OOS, your chances fall more into a true match range – maybe 60%.
@prezbucky but Pitt is significantly more selective than PSU… I am in state however, and I don’t see how I could only have an 80% chance at a typical state school. That would make sense if my subject tests were in the 600’s and my SAT I was less than 1800, but thats just what I know.
I was going off of PSU’s higher ranking than Pitt. Regardless, they are both low matches. You’ll have good options even if you don’t hit any reaches. Good luck!
Ok, I didn’t mean to write that critically, I was just confused about that little thing, thanks very much though!
