Firstly, I'm in the equivalent of the American Junior year in my country. Middlebury is ranked tops for its language program so my question is would portraying myself as interested in foreign languages be to my advantage? My interest is in Japanese- I'm currently self studying Japanese, so would taking SAT 2s in that be a help? I looked through the collegeboard questions and they seem doable for me.
Another thing- I recently got back my JLPT 2 (proficiency test) scores, which I failed barely. I would have chosen to re-take it if not for SATs which I am planning to take in December. I'm not sure if I can cope with studying for JLPT2 as well as SAT. Should I bother to take JLPT 3- which I consider a waste of time and money but much easier to pass, just to demonstrate my language ability?
Anyone who can help? Thanks!

I believe they will like your interest in other languages, as it is something that Middlebury does value. Take the SAT IIs, definitely the Japanese one. Remember though that speaking another language is not as importnant as your essays, SAT I scores, and your performance in your academic courses in school, etc. Maybe your essay could be about your interest in Japanese? Emphasize your strengths and you should fare well against the other international students.
