pls chance me for penn

I am now a senior in Beijing, and i was on an exchange program to a private school in D.C. for a year, here are my academic stats:
SAT1 - 2330 ; Math -800; CR- 750; Writing - 780
SAT2 - MATH2 - 800; Physcis - 800; Chem - 800
GPA : my current school in Beijing does not do GPA, but i am top 5% of my class.
while i was an exchange student in D.C. for a year, i got 3.86 (unweighted) - probably the highest GPA in my class.

The exchange program offered a full scholarship (it's very selective) to one of the top private schools in America. i, at age 16, lived with three host families and lived in a foreign country for a year.

back in china, i was elected class president.

i brought the idea of 'yearbook' to china, and became the editor of the yearbook of my class.

i am also an avid writer and i am the chief editor of a school paper and magazine. i was elected the president of young writers' association.

i founded a "cultural club", where we introduce different cultures and invite speakers for assemblies.

i founded a workshop where all my classmates can exchange information on colleges both in and out of china. and we invite people every other week to give us info on business, medicine, law and etc. just to give everyone an idea what people do in those fields and help my classmates to actually decide what they are looking for in colleges.

AND i am not applying for financial aid.

wharton? sas? seas?

I dont understand how 3.86, even UW, can be highest. EC looks a bit weak for international applicant; this other applicant was like top ten teen writer in country by public and judge consensus.
You have an OK chance because you choose not to apply for FA. Apply ED.
Wharton might be a reach. My val 2360 with great EC and recs got defer–> reject.

There’s going to be stiff competition applying from Beijing, so you have to apply ED. Write wonderful essays. Tons of people have the scores, but it’s the writing that will set you apart.

not wharton i suppose. maybe more like SEASi will be an engineering student.

well, thanx for advice, i think i am applying for SEAS, so do i have a better chance for that? and does ED help? I heard people say that ED have the most competitive and initiative people, so i don’t know if that will be a good idea

ED helps tremendously. RD is ridiculously competitive because they’ve already accepted 48% of the class ED. APPLY ED. Save yourself time and money and increase your chances.

My m8 got into Wharton with a 2200, GPA of 3.5, SAT II of 650 ish each

@ looney My stats were v similar to yours; 800s for 4 SAT II’s v close to 2400 for SAT’s(bumped it up from 2100 to 2350 at last testing lol) with the exception that I had done the national curiculum along with the AP (I’m also an international) I’m a SEAS 2013 student =D (oh, I may have had a few more EC’s)

I think you have a real fighting chance :stuck_out_tongue: just make yourself look real original and special in the essays! hope to you next year!

@ asian at lab my school’s top gpa was 3.8 (a guy who got a gold for Maths Olympiad), I got a gpa of 3.73… However in my AP exams (which was not endorsed by high school) I got 5’s in all of my subjects… I tell you this because you seem to think that every national curriculum is as easy as the American one. Point taken?
