The thing is, my family can contribute only about 6k per year. I'll have to apply for a lot of financial assistance. T______T

If you retake the SAT and get scores more like those your SAT-IIs suggest you should get, you should be in good shape. Of course, the common app essay will also be important. Make sure that your essay, together with the rest of your app, gives Lawrence a clear picture of who you are.

you're must be Vietnamese Ngocanh 9a, think this way, you're up against other international students as well as Vietnamese, do u think that you're stats r better than theirs?. With my experience of this year, it's tougher to get into university with a great scholarship. Remember that Lawrence is SAT optional. the family's contribution is important, i dont think Lawrence or any other college or uni can help you with that unless your stats r nothing but exceptional. i'm going to Lawrence this year, if you need help, pm me

Thanks a lot!
Personally, I think i'm just a mediocre student. No special honor prizes, no leadership, so-so scores, and GREAT financial need. I'm very worried about my chances; :-s. Maybe the only thing i can hook my stat now is to write unique essays?

Don't be so hard on yourself! Your extracurriculars are pretty good, as is the GPA, and the SAT score really isn't all that bad in the big scheme of things--I've known people who've gotten into schools just as selective as Lawrence, and sometimes even more selective, with worse SATs than that. Granted, the fact that you're an international applicant makes the competition pretty fierce, but it's good that you're retaking the SAT. You may not be able to get all of your financial need met by Lawrence, but then again, you may--I would call or email the financial aid office directly if you have more specific questions. Make sure your essay is stellar, and remember, Lawrence is SAT-optional, so if for some reason you can't raise that SAT within two hundred points or so, you don't have to submit it. I'm not going to Lawrence next year, but I was admitted, so if you have questions, feel free to shoot me a message. Honestly, I think you have a decent chance.

You'll get in, ngocanh9a. The question is, how much financial aid will they offer? Are you looking at other schools, as well? Some are noted for great merit and/or need-based aid.

Thanks you guys a lot. Which factors are considered most important in the app process?
Does Lawrence usually reject students because of their "financial need"?

Lawrence says it is need blind--that is, whether or not a student is accepted for admission has nothing to do with the student's need. I don't know, however, if that is true for international students--as the website says, "for domesitc students."

Contact the admissions office via email--use the website

--and ask. That will get them started thinking about you--which is a good thing. It will also give you the official answer. Tell them a little about yourself in the email. I think you are the kind of student they would like to try to be able to help.
