Pls Respond! Chance me for STeM reaches with a 1480 and bland EC's (Northeastern, GT, Yale, etc)

ok hi im a middle class (like actual middle class i get good financial aid) white boy at a medium competitive public school in south florida

stats:
1480 SAT: 750 reading, 730 math
(im taking it again in December which ive checked its in time for my RD’s and hopefully I can get my math up but I might not)

GPA: unweighted 3.95/4,

5.25/4.0 weighted but our district is weird so i dont think that means anything

class rank: 17/360 (top 5%)

AP’s: Psych (5), Human Geo (5), World History (5), APUSH(5), Lit (3), Calc BC (2  )

Classes: IB Diploma program so junior and senior year are just all IB classes, taking: HL Math, HL English Lit, HL History of Americas, SL Chemistry, SL Biology, SL Spanish

EXTRACURRICULARS:

Model UN (all 4 years; is vice president)

Part time job as a server at local family owned restaurant; was an essential worker over spring and summer but I just do 15 hours a week during school

Math Team (4 years; no leadership but was on a couple different teams that I listed)

Make a Wish (Soph-Junior); Club Officer - we planned fundraisers for local wish kids

Newspaper (senior year); news writer - i write articles for our paper

IB Ambassadors (soph - junior); basically just student government for IB program)

4 year class member of student government; no elected role

1 year w/ no major accomplishments in: Science Olympiad, Mock Trial, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Book Club, STEM@ Work

REC LETTERS: 1 from 2 year bio teacher and I did good in her class, the other from my 2 year math teacher in which I failed her AP exam junior year but have gotten A’s in her class this year and demonstrated significant academic improvement, this one hopefully is pretty good as she likes me a lot and watched me go through it in the spring and sees that I’m currently winning; also a basic counselor recommendation but she likes me

ESSAYS: tbh my common app personal essay is high key quirky but really good, its a metaphor for being outed as gay but its not a big “haha let me in im gay” essay because I talked about it through a completely separate experience that actually happened and the gay part is like one line; im a good writer so my supplementals should be good

INTENDED MAJOR: environmental science/ natural resource sciences, probably a minor in polysci if that’s relevant for admissions

COLLEGES:
Big Reaches: Duke, Yale, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Rice, Dartmouth, Colby College, Bowdoin College, Amherst (vanderbilt is my top pick if that matters; im retaking the SAT literally for them)

More “realistic” Reaches: Northeastern, Georgia Tech, Emory, Tufts, Vassar, Washington&Lee, Reed

Actual Target schools: University of Georgia, University of Florida, University of Vermont

Safeties: UCF, FSU, USF

***********also if you guys have other schools to suggest that are strong in science/research opportunities but also give out NEED based aid; i really like the midwest public schools like Purdue and UIUC and Wisconsin but I get really good need based aid at private schools that offer it so i dont really know if there are any out of state public schools I can afford, but if you know something please lmk!

******also i know and understand that college admissions are random and that chance me’s are usually not accurate but i need someone to tell me something because i don’t think my EC’s are good enough to get me in anywhere unless i get a perfect SAT, i think I can break 1500 with a superscore but i probably wont do much better than a 1500-1520 if i can reach that

Your stats are honestly great. Any amazing school is obviously super competitive, no matter what your scores are. I agree your extracurriculars are a little bland because of the lack of leadership positions, but I honestly think your stats make up for it. If you’re going into STEM and applying to these schools you might want to have a higher math score, or at least higher than your reading score. But other than that, I see no problems. You can also check out schools Tulane and Case Western because they seem to be like good match schools with awesome STEM programs and they’re generous with scholarships and aid. Good luck!

Make sure you apply to FSU, UCF, etc. Get those done first. It will be hard to beat the cost of your in-state schools.

Did you run the NPC on each school on your list? Are they affordable? If you’re seeking need based aid I would look at schools that meet full need. It will be difficult to get enough need from from the state schools on your list. Your stats are good but probably not in the full-tuition merit scholarship territory. Good luck.

Your stats are great! I think work hard on those essays cause that will make or break it!, so really work on those and make sure each one is about something different but still hits the spot that you want to express. I think find 5-6 struggles or events that changed your life in HS and stick to those.
