Hey everyone!
My name is Leticia, and I'm a senior in Mexico. I'm trying to go to a college in the US to study law, but since there are no counselours at my school who are experts in applying to american colleges, well I'm kind of stranded.
I have bout 1000 questions, if u can answer any of them, it'll really help me!
- first of, is pre-law only taken at a college or is it available at an university as well?
- If you can only take it at a college, which are the best ones with pre-law?
- What must we write about on the application essay?
That's all for now, thanks!

In the US, the words "college" and "university" are often used interchangeably. An university is made up of several colleges/schools (College of Arts and Sciences, School of Medicine, College of Engineering, etc.). A college can either be part of an university, or a separate institution.

Pre-law, to my understanding, is a group of courses the one takes before applying to law school. You can take this at a university or a college.

For your essays, the application forms will give you prompts for the essay.

In the US, there is no pre-law program; you complete a four-year undergraduate program, and then apply to law school. I know lawyers who have undergraduate degrees in engineering, economics, foreign languages, history, psychology, English literature, and anything else you can think of.

The US has about 3,000 colleges and universities, and most could prepare you for law school, but some do a better job than others. Have you taken the SAT entrance exams?
