@GeminiTheTwins - slightly off topic - and My D did not attend Syracuse, so I don’t have direct knowledge. But I wouldn’t characterize their showcase as “only a couple of students”. D was accepted to Syracuse, and when we visited and met with program head he said that some of the kids did Tepper semester in NYC which put them in front of industry folks, some were chosen for Sorkin Week in LA… and some did the showcase. He indicated that everyone got opportunity.
@GeminiTheTwins, starting with this year’s graduating class (2019), all BFA acting and MT students participate in the NY showcase.
@CTDramaMom what about their food and dorms. I hear people complain about them, but is it really that bad? Also do you maybe know someone who has a son/daughter in Rider’s MT program. I wanna hear more about Rider since everyone here talked mostly about Point park.
My D had no issue in the dorms. She wasn’t a big fan of the food, but mostly because she’s vegan, and there weren’t that many options for her. Truthfully, most students move off campus their sophomore or junior years. Mine has lived in a downtown apartment for the past two years, and plans on doing so again her senior year.
I don’t know much about the senior showcase at PPU. Hopefully a more experienced Mom can speak to that. They are preparing for their Freshman showcase though, which is this week!
As for the dorms. They are old, but SO convenient (same building as ballet classes!), and plenty fine. We saw worse. The food is fair. It is MUCH better at the cafe, which my daughter mostly eats at. She’s a very picky eater, so that could certainly be part of the problem. She will be living off campus next year. Much cheaper, and VERY nice.
Honestly, she doesn’t really care about any of that… she loves the program SO much!
@GeminiTheTwins
About the Point Park senior showcase: all the BFA Acting and MT majors starting with this year’s graduating class can participate as @CTDramaMom said. It is optional, however. My daughter said that none of her classmates opted out.
