So, so sad. This is certainly not the ending we were hoping and praying for. They have to catch this cold blooded killer. Unless someone was able to enter the bldg during the fire alarm evacuation, we have to assume that the killer had access to the lab. Does anyone know the status of the questioning of the professor? Someone told me that Sun. morning on the news it was stated that he is not a suspect and had an air tight alibi. I did not hear anything about that. Anyone?

It will be hard to get over the shock and tragedy of this story. This was supposed to be the night of her honeymoon.

I just heard about this today. How horrible! What is this world coming to? I was reading and they found a body behind a wall, and chances are it’s hers. This story gives me chills.

This is unbelievable. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

It’s so heartbreaking. D called last night and said the mood on campus is (understandably) pretty grim.

ABC News is now reporting that the clothes they found may have belonged to the killer, so that should give them some good evidence. Let’s hope he’s caught quickly.

Amen ^^^^^^^^

This is all extremely disturbing. My prayers go to the entire Yale community.

My thoughts are with the family as well. Let’s hope this comes to a resolution quickly so other daughters and girlfriends and sisters on campuses are safer.

i cant believe she was found dead…there are some really sick people in this world…

This is heartbreaking. It may sound petty but I can NOT BELIEVE that both Lorimer and Levin mispronounced her name. According to the YDN, it sounds like Lay, not Lee. The news broadcasters have obviously read this or found out from another source and are saying it correctly now, but Lorimer and Levin both said it incorrectly.

What’s scariest here is the facts suggest that the perpetrator is a Yale student or employee. I’m sure students expect to have to be on their guard out on the streets near the med school, but who expects to be attacked inside a building, especially a lab which requires key-card access. (The building doesn’t --just requires standard Yale ID–but reports say the lab where the body was found Is only accessible to those with special key cards.)

It was probably a student jealous of her intellectual superiority over him, or a professor who was outsmarted by her in class. We’ll soon find out for sure.

Isn’t the fire alarm evacuation a factor? If the building was emptied out and then everyone let back in, there may have been easy enough access for someone without a key card.

I think, in the real world, intellectual jealousy rarely results in homicide.

Re #72: Not if I’m reading the YDN articles correctly. Someone might have gotten into the building–but that doesn’t explain how they got into the lab. As I understand it, animal experiments are done there and so there was extra security. Any Yalie could go into the building…but not into the lab where the bloody clothes and body were found.

What we don’t know is whether the lab where the steam pressure caused the fire alarm to go off was the lab where her body was found. If so, it would seem that the fire alarm was a diversion to give the perp time to kill her and/or hide the body and hide the clothing.

If that’s the case…then the clue is who swiped into the lab and is NOT seen exiting the building during the fire alarm.

Yes, I’m speculating…and I shouldn’t.

Its very disturbing. Is it another case of a mad med student killing women? Like that Boston med student? I dont know. It was a high security area, with extremely limited access inside and out. Only Yale students with the appropriate access codes and the faculty could get in. Even inside it was also restricted. And monitors everywhere. A steam release, believed to be intentional, set off the fire alarm the day she disappeared. Why did she leave her other office? Why did she leave her purse, wallet and cellphone in the other office? What was she carrying when she went in the building? This looks suspiciously like an inside job. Why? Was it a sexual assault situation or just a murder for an unknown cause? But I am confident whomever did this was a fool, leaving behind so much evidence for police.

My prayers go out to Annie Le, her heartbroken family and fiance.

I am hopeful the police can complete the investigation successfully and arrest/convict the monster who did this.

Sadly, no college campus is 100% safe. You never know who is around you.

It appears the suspect IS a student. wow.

Super scary considering it has happened in a Ivy League school!

Fox just reported that the report about the student suspect referenced in post #76 is false according to the New Haven police.

Some on these boards have criticized the authorities for their tight-lipped investigation. But given the belief that the bloody clothes may belong to a suspect, it now seems clear that silence with regard to this item was indeed the correct approach; you don’t want a suspect who might flee (or talk) to know you’re closing in on him.

Yeah Kajon I just that coverage too. Who knows what’s up.
