I really hope that the NHPD wraps up this investigation and arrests the monster asap, so that we can all have some semblance of closure. I also hope that this does not drag on, and end up as a cold case, like the Jovins murder of 12/98. That would be unbearable to the families and Yale community.

“Cameras do not prevent crime.”

If the potential criminal is aware of the cameras, they do prevent crime.

“If the potential criminal is aware of the cameras, they do prevent crime.”

Only if the criminal is a hard working individual thinking of speeding to get home faster, and remember there is a camera at the trafic lights and may potentially receive a ticket through the mail. Then, yes, cameras do prevent “crimes.” However, in the case of a psychopath, I doubt it. In fact, it may add another element of excitement. These individuals are different than the rest of us.

The police are processing the evidence collected at the crime seen. Thay have a very tight net around the apartment complex because they will arrest the “person of interest” (lab tech.) if he tries toi leave the area. They want to get as much evidence processed as they can before they go to the court to get the warrants the feel they need. That guy isn’t going anywhere.

I hope they nail the killer with a tight case, strong evidence, and an excellent prosecutor.

On the issue of cameras possibly having prevented this… maybe so. But then that psychopath would still be there working at Yale. That’s not an any more comforting thought, is it?

A Hartford TV station has reported the name of the lab tech under investigation:

If you’ve actually been to court, you’d know that the polygraph test (lie detector) is FLAWED. The judge tried multiple times to administer one to me, but my lawyer denied all of them and cited their inaccuracies.

As for the defense wounds on his chest. Who knows?

So it appears they did not work at the same office, but shared the same lab at Yale?

Cameras deter more than speeders.

Ray Clark, his sister, his brother-in-law, and his current gf all work for Yale.

Here’s the gf myspace.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=196915495

Her current mood is: Busy. Smiley face.

And I thought I’m passive aggressive. This witch takes it to the next level.

He said the cat did it.

middsmith - That cannot possibly be them?

midsmith is right so far. They are focusing on ray clark as the main suspect. that myspace link is indeed him.

What I mean is that if he had a girlfriend, and the victim had a boyfriend, then the theory of fatal attraction goes out the window. Then why was she killed?

And this girl on myspace updated her page today. How can she be happy when her boyfriend is a suspect in a murder case. This is really creepy!

who knows. jealousy over her work? maybe they had a row once in the lab? i can only guess

If the entire family was working for Yale, maybe that is why the authority keep it secret. They want to find out if it is really him that did it. Because at this point, it can be anyone related to him.

“The only way to prevent such incidents in my opinion is to provide each student and employee a wireless panic button on their student id or employee card. The button when pressed give information to the campus police the location and ID of the employee.”

Wistful thinking. Even if the card is around one’s neck, a person under attack would be busy defending themselves, not grabbing their ID card. A student or employee would be more likely to accidentally set off their panic button while changing their clothes.

For other reasons, the ID card would be a waste of money. College campuses aren’t war zones. There are many more dangerous places that one could be. Most college students aren’t victimized by violent crimes on campus or by any kind of campus crime.

It would be nice to think that there are ways of preventing crimes like what happened to this unfortunate graduate student, but doing so would be extremely difficult.

Having a romantic partner doesn’t preclude romantic interest in anyone else.
