Political Activism

Is there much political activism at Cornell- as in staged protests, political clubs, etc?

Yes, perhaps too much. I don't remember many staged protests, but they do happen from time to time.

That's the problem with people, even smart ones like Cornellians. They're too caught up in everyone else's business to worry about their own success, and thus lead mediocre lives devoid of any real significance or purpose.

That sounds a bit more acerbic than I intended...

Don't worry, no one gets shot these days, at least.

It doesn't take much for people to take to the streets in Ithaca. Believe me.

i'm looking forward to protests and such in college- just makes me want to go to cornell even more!

Well...how is Cornell compared to UC Berkeley in terms of political activism?

out of curiosity, what kinds of things would you like to protest?

damn, whats with all the hate. x.x

i'm going on a protest to end women's suffrage once and for all. ;)

(anybody else see that YouTube video?)

protesting as such doesn't matter too much for me- i just think that a politically active campus is really important- i go to a school right now where people don't even know what's going on between Israel and Lebanon; people start political and community service clubs more because it looks good on college apps instead of because they actually care about what's actually going on outside of our little town
this bugs me a lot

i've always wanted to go to a college where people do care about the "world's business" instead of worrying only about "their own success"; it's not at all about hate- i'm actually a pretty happy person

apart from a politically active campus, i think it's really important for students to be involved in their community in ways that matter- at my high school, people tend to care more about the hours of commmunity service they do instead of making a real dent in their community

sorry, but i don't consider volunteering at a public library community service- but that's what most people do as community service nowadays because it fills up hours really quickly

in college, i would like to really help my community- if that means protesting, then i'm all game

I can't wait for the political activist atmosphere of college!

(gomstar...are you talking about the clip of the fat canadian woman? lol)

no, some kids go to an elite girls school and have them sign a petition to end womens suffrage (the girls don't know the word and think they are fighting to end "womens suffering." very funny.

lmao, sparticus. in my school, the female social studies teachers be like, women shouldnt be allowed to vote cuz they dont know what they are doing. and all the guys be noddin their heads.

you have an odd way of speaking.

lol can u link up that clip, sounds good

hizzle:

lmao wow these girls, my favorite were the ones where the boy was behind her like "That's your right to vote!" and then the "smart chick and the dumb one" haha

wow, that's so FUNNY!

Fantastic video. I'd love to see them try that at Cornell though.
