Can any students or recent grads comment on the political atmosphere at Case? Liberal, moderate, or conservative? Are students involved in politics or are most students involved in academics or other activities? I know the vice-presidential debates were held there two years ago. Was there a lot of associated student activity? Ohio was the key swing state in the last presidential election. How do most students feel about the current Iraq war?

Hhaha this is interesting topic

to keep its tax exempt status, Case refuses to host any official political candidates or speakers, unless they are speaking not about politics to avoid any bias.
The debates were here because they had candidates from both dominant parties, so Case felt comfortable bringing them here.
Being in OHIO, a major swing state, there are always tons of political ads

Case Dems and Repubs are usually pretty active in getting students to register to vote in ohio, as well as passing out literature around election times.

I cannot honestly say whether case is more liberal or conservative because there are very large populations of both on campus.

I think Case is definitely more liberal than conservative. Election night '06 most of the kids on my hall who voiced their thoughts were quite excited about the results. Maybe its just me, but I feel like I can't bring up politics with most of my friends without getting into a heated argument because I am conservative. Another reason I tend to keep my mouth shut, a lot of "conservatives are stupid" type of talk that floats around. That being said, you can still definitely be great friends with people of different political viewpoints.

Oh, as far as the Iraqi War is concerned, the general feeling I get is that most students think it is ridiculous.

Thanks, casegirl. My son will be voting soon for the first time. I would say he is a pragmatic moderate, although it is hard to know how his political views will evolve in college. I noticed that there is a Republican club on campus so it appears that there are some alternative views. I realize most colleges are liberal-leaning but hopefully, multiple views can be tolerated, if not respected, at Case. My son likes civilized rational debate on current affairs and hopes to find like-minded students.

Hey, thought this was interesting, according to what people in the Case facebook network list as their political views...
