Political Science/ Disabilities Services at New Paltz

Hi Everyone,
I visited New Paltz today and was quite impressed. I just have a few questions...
1) I'm quite a strong student (2,000+ SAT, NHS, Mock Trial 6 AP's by HS Graduation). I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the NP Honors program requirements/benefits etc
2) I'm very interested in Pre-Law and I would like to major in political science. Is anyone familiar with that program (professors, class size, format). Are students engaged?
3) I have Cerebral Palsy and got the impression that the campus was fairly accessible, and that there was support in place, can anyone tell me more?
4) I live in Westchester County (Just North of NYC) and would like to stay relatively close to home (driving distance). I don't want a huge Campus...what other SUNYs should I consider??
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! (:

I can somewhat address the disabilities support system. My son came to New Paltz this past semester with a broken foot and the disabilities service was very helpful. He met one on one with a counselor who stayed in touch with him the whole time. She helped him create a schedule so his classes were within easy distance of one another with enough time to get where he was going. She walked him through it, showing him the best routes with no stairs, etc. She showed him the best spots to be dropped off by car too. Since he was a transfer student, we could compare the services at NP vs. his previous school and NP was far and away the best. He has a friend he made this semester who has cerebral palsy too.

Thanks very much…that’s good to know!!!

Your welcome! There is another poster on CC whose D is in the honors program so hopefully she will see your post and tell you of her experience with honors.

Since you just visited…why not post a trip report in the college visits section. :)
