Political Science Major--Will I be starving?

I'm getting my undergrad from a third tier uni (West Texas A&M) in political science and Spanish with a minor in econ. I'm having to pay for my own education :/ so even though I graduated top ten in high school with and IB diploma and have maintained a 4.0 I can really only afford to go to this school. My question, especially addressed to anyone in a similar situation or anyone who has graduated with a degree in poli sci--how easy was it finding a job and did you get a job related to this field? I plan on going to grad school and doing something in international relations. I just want to estimate my chances of actually getting a good job. People usually give a long list of potential careers but I want to know what I can actually do with this degree. I love what I am studying but I do want a successful career....All things considered, including the university I get this degree from, any suggestions, thoughts, advice? Much appreciated, thanks!
.....Additional question I'll add: is a degree in Public Adminstration better since there are more business classes involved to give me a stronger buisiness background?

Some things I've done to make my resume more competative:
I'm on the Student Senate,
Honors Program,
I have a long career in volunteering and I volunteer every week,
I plan on studying in Spain next semester to improve my spanish,
I'm on the editing board for a poli sci journal
I plan on doing a Washington Internship offered.
Any suggestions, previous experience? Much appreciate again!

People have been successful in their career with a PS major. But, since the economy is so bad now, it is very hard for liberal arts graduates to find jobs (I know from experience, terrible year to graduate). If you are not a business, engineering, science, or IT major it really sucks. Especially if no one spectacular recruits on your campus. Or if you don't plan on going into a top law school, medical, dental, pharmacy, etc. then good luck. I have no idea what the economy will be like in 4 years. If you feel like the economy will be better then go ahead and major in PS, if not you better major in a more practical major. Be sure to continue your Spanish and do study abroad, it will come in handy. You don't necessarily have to major in PS to do international relations type stuff either. Go to U.S. Department of State - Home Page, very competitive though. Good luck!

I am a PolSci major from way back...I have worked as a congressional aide, state legislative staffer, mayoral assistant, lobbyist, executive director of a trade association, insurance company executive...you get the picture.

Jobs are out there...you have to be flexible and realize that there isn't a lot of security unless you go civil service.

Interning is a must and a door to full-time jobs. Good luck and post any questions or PM me.

Law School is an option with a Political Science major.

One of the speakers at UCSD's welcome ceremony was a double major in political science and Spanish literature, just like you. He ended up starting a citywide program to tutor underprivileged youths. I don't know how well he's doing, but he has a job and a decent suit. Then again, he got stabbed while on the job...

Never starving.. (I am a poli sci major)...
Just need to adapt; much like any person in this economy.
The bush administration has ruined or existence right now.. you need to adapt and overcome in order to achieve...
