Political Science Ph.D. Admissions Results - Where to Go?

Wisconsin - rejected
Minnesota - alternate (high on list)
Ohio State - rejected
Boston University - accepted with funding
University of Washington - accepted/alternate for funding
Kansas - accepted with funding
New Mexico - accepted with funding
North Texas - accepted with funding (no tuition remission)</p>

<p>Right now McGill is at the top of my list of schools to go to of those that have accepted me. Is anyone a grad student at McGill from the US? Can you tell me what it is like living in Montreal? The visa process? </p>

<p>For anyone, how would you rank the schools that I have been accepted to? Which one would you put at the top of the list?</p>

<p>Look at professors and their research interests. Is there a specific faculty member you’d like to work with?</p>

<p>I’m particularly interested in working with Vincent Pouliot at McGill. I’m really thinking McGill is the place to go at this point. I’m just worried a little about the visa process and the complications of going to a university outside of the US, but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. One thing is that McGill is in Montreal which is a French-dominant city. I’ll be taking my future wife (getting married in July this year) and I want to make sure there are jobs for monolingual English speakers. Other than those concerns, I’m all about McGill!</p>
