Poll: Democrat or Republican

I’m personally pro-life, but having laws that allow abortion just makes things easier because the people who want an abortion can get one and the people who don’t want one don’t have to get one.

^^Ok, that is your opinion. That is why I asked.

@Trufflie- the difference is, when abortion is illegal- there will still be abortions. The difference is whether or not there are safe abortions.

^ The defintion of what a “safe” abortion varies from person to person. Person A will believe that a safe one can be at any time during birth whereas Person B thinks it is within x (i.e. 3 months) of gestation. One definite definition of such “safe” abortion cannot be established. We all perceive different things. It’s no use trying to force someone to change his or her opinion. And, if the government decided to force what they think, perceive of what a “safe” abortion is - for example, safe as in within 5 months - will people actually follow such laws? No - just like people steal, rape, assault, not everyone will follow the laws.

^That wasn’t what I meant.

Late-term abortions are illegal on a federal level, and I doubt that is ever going to be overturned. So that is not really even an issue.

By “safe” I meant done in a hospital, by a trained professional. When they are illegal, they occur in an alley with a baseball bat.

^ Well, again, the methodology of the abortion is based on opinion too. Maybe Martha WANTS to be kicked down there to prevent herself from having a baby and thinks it is safe compared to what is done in a hospital, which she believes is unsafe. Maybe Sue BELIEVES the opposite - she thinks a hospital is safer than being hit by such baseball bat. OH WAIT, but then again maybe Jill feels her body will be safer if hit by a baseball bat than terminating the pregnancy in a hospital.

^ Those are horrible opinions that have been trounced by scientific facts.

^^Safety is not relative. There are STATISTICS, like rates of infection or chances of complications, that can determine how safe a procedure is. Martha can believe whatever she wants, but the fact is that getting kicked down the stairs is more dangerous than a hospital abortion.

Then if THAT’S what Martha and Jill want, then whatever, they can do that. But it must remain legal so that Sue can go to the hospital. That is my point.

Let me say this in another way:
I don’t really care whether you are pro-life or pro-choice as long as you do not take away my right to control my body, in a safe and legal way.

You’re wrong.
It always comes down to abortion, gay marriage, or immigration. Lol.
Because, honestly, that’s all people seem to care about. We are a pretty single-minded people.

I strongly dislike both parties.

@romani
Nah. The government should just give up trying to choose a side and let individual people choose for themselves. They don’t have to make it legal or illegal. There should be no laws on abortion, an obviously very subjective topic. They should just not do anything and leave it at that because we all have different circumstances and beliefs.

^ So if there is no law for or against it, then that means that it is legal, correct? If something is not banned, then it is allowed, correct?

Or else, your post makes no sense.

Far left. Green party is more like me.

^^^ What? Either something is legal, or it is illegal.

romanigypsyeyes, your statistics about 95% of abortions being from rape, incest, health, and inability to pay/cope are extremely skewed. Abortions from rape and incest and health of the mother are less then 1% of all abortions.

^ You left out the:
financially and emotionally unable to support a child.

But nice try ;).

Conservative.

“He may be a Democrat, but he’s a human being, too!”

I’m liberal, so I assume I’m a democrat?

^^^ Source?

I can’t speak to the first case. I agree with the second. In the third case, that baby should not have been conceived in the first place. I’m glad you’re against late-term abortions at least.

People who don’t WANT children should NOT create them.

Many people I know are foster/adoptive parents. It’s a horrible thing when parents fail to the point that that becomes neccesary, and it’s an incredible thing that there are people loving enough to take up the slack. But yes, it is not an ideal situation. Kids belong with their parents whenever possible.

But all that aside, we don’t kill kids who are hard to get adopted like we do with stray puppies.

I don’t believe that anyone has the right to decide that another person’s life isn’t worth living.

Because these kids are dying out there, and most of those kids aren’t. If I know a friend who is going to die if I don’t go help him, and another friend who will lose his house if I don’t go help him, then I will go to the dying friend first.

As soon as it has its own DNA code for a unique human being. While it may be that it does not become human until later, there is no way for us to tell and therefore we should not make an arbitrary judgement.

Yes, I oppose anything that causes the death of a unique human being.

Not, I don’t oppose anything that merely prevents conception.

In fact, I heartily support the only 100% effective birth control method.

^^ Common sense.

Sorry, no I do not have a source (although, I should probably search for one).

How many women who want children, are financially able to have children, are going to get an abortion?

@MM-

I am about to leave here to go enjoy some quality time in a hot tub so I’m going to leave you with this:

I absolutely agree that they shouldn’t be created in the first place. But we shouldn’t put the kid through hell because its parents made a stupid mistake. We should also increase birth control knowledge, because abstinence only education doesn’t work.
