thank god for billymc

Isn’t the primary argument for abortion that a person has a right to do whatever they want to with their own body?

^^ For pro-choice people, yes.

For pro-life people it’s about ending a “life”.

^^^No. Once someone becomes pregnant and has a living fetus inside them, she is morally responsible for that life. In my opinion, it’s not the mother’s choice to kill a potential life at will.
^^Amen.

Yeah well if you’re pregnant it’s not just your body.

Confederate:
You’re such a bad ■■■■■.

^^ In your opinion.

And herein lies the distinction.

Yes, in my opinion, but it should be obvious. These are human beings we’re talking about!

zips mouth

I’m on vacation lol.

What if a woman cannot carry a pregnancy to full term or give birth, knowing that she will not survive if she does?

You can’t be black and white about these things!

(yes, I repeated myself)

^That is an entirely different and rare situation. Get real.

Nooo… though I can see how you could develop this view if your only comparison is to Glenn Beck.

1.) Why do you believe that Obama is so terrible?
2.) Most liberals are immoral pot heads? Literally every person I know that smokes marijuana is very conservative, and just because someone has different morals doesn’t mean no morals.
3.) Not everyone needs to follow your religion.
4.) Do you really have to be all condescending about being “educated” when so many outspoken conservatives seem ignorant?
5.) Your screen name is “Confederate”. Enough said.

Why is life in quotes?

The definition of life varies from person to person.

I believe that “life” occurs once you take your first breath/when you aren’t attached to your momma.

Others believe “life” starts at conception (although for the life of me, I can’t figure out how a zygote is life. Don’t explain it to me, I really don’t care).

Well, I have known pro-lifers who say that they must carry the baby to full term anyway. Apparently, a potential life is more important than an established life.

Anyway, why exactly does a woman have any kind of an obligation to carry a pregnancy to term?

^ Conception, right? Doesn’t inception already mean…beginning? hehe…

I lean mostly to the left; however, there are some conservative ideas i agree with.

^^ Whoa, dude. Thanks for pointing that out lmao.

One too many for me, methinks ;).

this, rape, and severe defects in the child [not something like down’s syndrome, something that definitely spells out death for the child] are the only cases in which i think abortion is the lesser of two evils.

so… a 35-week fetus isn’t “alive” and it’s perfectly acceptable to abort it? I don’t think you can simply draw an arbitrary line where life begins. I agree with billy.

If it meets the six characteristics of life, it is alive. That is like Bio 101. I’ve never heard someone argue that the unborn are not alive, just that they are not human. Which is something decided by their DNA.

She is responsible for ensuring the survival of her offspring.

^^Abortion, not rape.
