For those admitted, did you send in an optional letter of recommendation? If so, from who (coach, board member, alumni, employer, etc.). Of course the letters are just one piece of the puzzle. I’m just curious, YES or NO. Thanks!
Yes.
I’m totally out of my league here.
But why wouldn’t you?? Why not give them one more reason to say yes???
Thanks. Any others?
I sent one as well. I sent it apart of the Common App. Is that how most people here sent theirs?
I sent mine through the common app under “other recommender”
Only do it if it’s a fantastic letter. If it’s worse than the others and tells nothing new, don’t send it. Stanford admissions really doesn’t like to take more time than necessary for an app, and if they feel like they wasted five minutes reading a letter that doesn’t say anything, they may not be too happy.
Thanks, that’s what I had thought Stanccepted.
@Stanceppted I believe you’re correct. I heard a talk by Dean Shaw a while back and that’s exactly what he said - they generally discourage additional letters unless it really adds and they don’t get a lot of extra letters.
