Triscuit original, organic if possible. None of the off brand “woven wheat crackers” come close. Second choice is Stoned Wheat Thins. I usually buy Red Oval Farms but off brands of those are good too.
Car’s crackers, and various flatbread crackers.
I have never out crackers in my soup. I think it would dilute the flavor.
I do like Carr’s water table crackers . I also like oyster crackers in soup. .
I started eating oyster crackers as a young child in PA @sevmom. They were almost always served with soup.
I love oyster crackers in oyster stew, clam chowder, and Lipton’s extra noodle soup.
We eat Nut Thins and the Artisan Nut Thins with seeds. I also like pita crackers (various brands). I try to keep some saltines around, but my favorite brand, Suzie’s, has been out of stock lately. I don’t love Ritz, but will eat them if that’s all there is. Not a fan of Carr’s water crackers. Too dry. My husband likes plain grahams, but I’m not really a fan of those either.
Parmesan goldfish crackers and the little crescent moon shaped Japanese rice crackers are my faves.
In my youth, the Lance brand cheese crackers were. They had just a tiny bit of a spicy bite compared to cheez its or cheez nips. You couldn’t find them just anywhere, so I was always excited when I found some in a convenience store.
It’s a bit of a stretch from cracker discussion, but I recently bought a box of packaged cheese/peanut butter sandwich crackers for a road trip. The crunchy snack was a definite flashback to my childhood!
Triscuits. Original. For everyone but my daughter. Her favorites are Wheat Thins.
I also love Panzanella crackers. Plain and rosemary.
I made a yummy plum spread recently, with plums from my neighbor. A mature English/Irish/Scottish cheddar atop the plum spread on a triscuit is heaven on a square.
My former secretary would make a mug or bowl of chicken noodle soup and see how many saltines she could crumble into it and eat the thickened concoction. I’m sure it wasn’t very healthy—lots of salt and carbs.
Generally only Triscuits (original) and Saltines for me.
I can’t stand any sort of cheese cracker – even Goldfish. They taste like vomit to me. If I want to eat cheese, I’ll eat cheese – on a Triscuit or a Saltine.
How do you feel about animal crackers? The giant canister of them at Costco can hit the spot when we have one in our work kitchen and I need a little pick me up. My kids used to love the animal crackers with the pink “frosting” on them.
Also, trip car snacks for us always include either Cheese Its or The Cheese It Grooves.
I happened to see some Goldfish crackers that include red Mickey Mouse heads along with the traditional fish and ordered a bag not really expecting that GD would like them. She was so excited to have Mickey crackers.
Animal crackers were not a hit with GD and neither were the Sesame St. crackers. She will eat Ritz with her egg salad but prefers Club crackers, I think because they make better shovels.
I still buy those from the vending machine at the rest stops when I’m on a road trip . Also a holdover from my childhood!
When vending machine food is the only option, I’ll get the peanut butter cheese crackers. I figure they’re probably the healthiest thing in the machine.
Wheat thins for me. Ritz for hubby. The best description I heard for Triscuits is 'if you get that overwhelming urge to eat your whicker furniture…there is an alternative…Triscuits!" Sorry
I like all kinds of crackers. But no to the animal cracker, nilla wafers ok though.
But I usually have cheddar cheese goldfish crackers in the house.
A club cracker is good. Carbs are usually delicious
I would like to do a taste test of the little packs of crackers and cheese or crackers and PB from 50 years ago and today. Maybe it’s just my palate but the yummy insides have been greatly reduced and the product has little to no flavor to me now.
Same with goldfish- must be the extra flavor ones now to get me to eat them!
Would you consider these crackers (filled crackers) ??? This was my ULTIMATE snack when I was a kid and honestly if I ever see them now I could eat the entire bag. I would eat them ever so slowly savoring each bite. It was snack of choice to sneak into the movie theater.
Wish I had a bag now!!!
Honey graham crackers, with nothing on them. Just one or two.
