<p>I think it really depends. I mean, you don't want to submit another essay in the same format as the Common App essay, but my guidance counselor (who very much knows what she is doing) really encouraged me to send them an opinion article I wrote for the school newspaper last year that caused something of a stir in the community and a two-page excerpt of a novel I wrote last summer. I put in the Additional Info section because it seemed like the best place for it... and I figure if they don't want to read it they don't have to. I think it really does depend on your individual situation. I'm not advocating sending them page upon page upon page of material, but I don't think that additional material is always a bad thing.</p>
