Help!!!!!!! Minnesota Cold or sunny california..desicion desicion

In the Words of the OC Theme Song....California California

Something to think about: The daughter of Pomona's President is a sophomore at Carleton (and turned down her father's alma mater, Harvard) ...

AND, would she want to go to a college where her dad was president. Both colleges are amazing,.... freezing toes vs sunny, open skies, nearby ocean, palm trees...hmmm, let me think. Seriously it depends on what you are looking for and the feel for you. Spend a night on each campus to try the school on.

i would choose pomona, but that's because it's my top choice. how'd you find out already, btw? (if you don't mind my asking)

I have friends and Carleton and from what I gather, the two schools are very similar. Depends on what you want. I need to be near a city and I need to be mobile. LA, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco and Mexico are all just a short drive away. Then there's the weather. Then there's the 5 college consortium. It's a no-brainer for me but visit both. I know visits specifically for accepted students at Pomona begin in April.

Pomona-- no brainer. Don't you know about that joke, "which day was spring?" in Minnesota?

like toilet_paper said, how do you know you are in Pomona? Or are you just speculating?

I just got into carleton yesterday, and am waiting on Pomona, my current top choice. Im also curious as to how you know about pomona or if you're just setting this whole thing up hypothetically.

whoa weird pomona and carleton are my top two choices too!!! whooda thunk. but by the way, i don't think weather should be a major concern, sounds crazy but think about it everyone else has to deal with it too and from what ive heard carleton kids are the nicest, happiest kids around. ya definitely need to think about it in terms of your academic goals, i know this is a pomona message board and every1 has their preferences. i got into carleton on sat with a sweet fin aid package, i hope to hear from pomona in the next few days...

It's funny - for a few years adreps from Bowdoin, Carleton, Pomona and Swarthmore toured together. I guess there are a LOT of cross-applications.

they still do. I saw them together in LA this school year.

DO TAKE WEATHER INTO CONSIDERATION!!!! Sure, academics are important, but if weather is going to make you miserable, then academics will not be worth it. I came from CA to Swarthmore and i am thinking about transfering to Pomona. Blah, its quite a culture shock to come back here.

Anyone who says weather does not matter is crazy. You will be living wherever you choose to go for four years. Your environment, surroundings, etc. all become important as they influence your college experience. One thing that sets Pomona aprt from the east coast schools is its great weather, which changes the entire attitude of the student body. Thus, to end this debate. WEATHER DEFINIATLY MATTERS

and in the words of the Laguna Beach Song...

We got more bounce in California than all ya'll combined!
We got more bounce in California we like to party all the time!

haha I'd say Pomona just for the atmosphere alone, but I guess I'm biased.

there's actually sun during the winter at Pomona

duhhh

Unless you have a Prarie Home Companion fetish which would be highly abnormal

haha a Prarie Home Companion fetish??? wow.

Carleton is pretty limited in terms of course selection, which can potentially screw you over based on interests. Pomona, courtesy of the combined strength of the Consortium, offers you a lot more.

If you choose to attend Pomona, you'll never actually WISH you were in -10 degree weather during the winter. If you attend Carleton. . .
