Hi all! I’m very confused between these two schools! I’m planning on majoring in the sciences (neuroscience most likely) but I also want to study business/economics to pursue an MD/MBA in the future. Pomona has a great Economics major while USC lets you minor in the Marshall School of Business. Both are great in the sciences and I have been admitted into USC’s Freshman Science Honor’s Program. I would be so grateful to hear your opinions! Thanks!
The quality of education you will get at Pomona will just be plain better: smaller classes, no TA’s, more devoted professors. In addition, Pomona will have better placement with grad schools (Just because the average person does not know about Pomona, does not mean grad schools don’t know).
That being said, Pomona will not beat USC’s party scene.
You have less of a chance of having your throat slit if/when you venture off campus at Pomona compared to USC.
I agree with both of the previous posters…
DD is a very happy Pomona neuroscience major, and one of her best friends is an econ major. Pomona’s reputation has helped them both obtain amazing research and internship opportunities. I also agree with the previous posters, but would add that USC probably has a better football team.
