Yeah seriously, like 2.8+ is A/B honor roll, so 2.8+=smart.

1.2-2.799 is average

under 1.2 is a problem.

define “popular.”
I have 999999 imaginary friends, who encourage me as I struggle in my mathematical endeavors. I seek to refine the techniques of human survival and thinking through mathematical ideas and theorems.
So does this make me popular?

A lot of the smart people at my school–which happens to include my friends–are actually the “popular ones.” The best part of this is that they don’t do drugs, drink, or party hard! :]

I’m popular and smart. I think one of the reasons I was homecoming King was because people like the fact I am both.

I don’t even think there are popular people at our school, either. I guess there’d be the popular kids of each clique-- the mokes, the AP kids, the stoners, the gangsters, the emo kids, etc. But really, my school has no popular group. Some kids might get recognized around campus for being on the morning bulletin or for being the star basketball player for a season, but that’s about it.

not possible.

nope, my school i just like yours. Most the popular are very smart

I go to a pretty small private boarding school (barely 400 students - including PGs), and there aren’t really any “popular” kids. I mean, there are people who we know more about because they’re fantastic athletes or insanely smart or just really good at something. We’re basically a bunch of overachievers in every aspect - school, sports, extracurricular, etc. We all know each other because these are the people we’re with literally 24/7, and I’m sure there are people who are more well-liked, but that’s all opinion.

well you know theres a lot of types of popularity, theres the rich, wealthy, beautiful good-for-nothing people who are popular because of those things, and theres the nice outgoing people who are genuinely popular in a good way. some are smart, some arent, theres no definition.

Popular kids at my school are smart but nothing compared to our nerds.
But hey, i’m sure that’s applicable everywhere.

I’d have to say about half of smartest kids at my school are actually popular since they play sports and just are really cool people, and the other half are pretty nerdy.

If I had to pick the top 5 most popular people, I’d say only one (the starting quarterback) is the only unintelligent one. It’s stereotypical but it’s true.

The state champion track star that’s in the top 5 just blows my mind. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s doing a damn good job. He has a 3.9 GPA and a 2250 SAT score if I remember right. He gotten 5s in AP Euro, AP Calc BC, AP Spanish Lang and AP ELAC. The only non-5 he got was AP Calc AB, which he got a 4 on. He lettered in track ever since his sophomore year, and then continued on to letter in Swimming and Volleyball. The best part about him IMO is that he’s a nice guy. And this isn’t just some passive comment. He’s sincerely kind to everyone he meets even though he could easily take on Mike Tyson on PCP and win.

2 other guys are you average jocks though their fairly intelligent.

Last guy is a mix of everyone. He’s heading to UCSD next year I believe.

^Wow, that guy sounds amazing! See, that’s what it’s like at my school – very few super popular girls/guys are stupid or on drugs or whatever.

at my school, a lot of the popular kids are smart, but the majority is probably about average. our prom king this year will most likely be val for next year.

the popular kids in my school like to THINK their smart by taking AP classes. But really they get Cs in those classes. Their pretty much average.

Popular kids are just like everyone else. Some are rich, smart, and beautiful, and seem to have it all, but others not so much…

We don’t even have a cheerleading squad at my school. We barely have a football team, so there’s no stereotypical popular quarterback. Open enrollment in APs has lead to an influx of kids who think they’re intelligent but really they just cheat and copy their way through APs. I guess my school is atypical, but there doesn’t really seem to be a divide between the unpopular and popular crowds. Everyone is just kind of ‘chill’ with one another. It’s weird.

The previous posts clearly exhibit feminine bias.

All the popular kids here are naive. If they saw the top CCers, and saw the true requirements of top tier colleges, they would probably all go into a self-destructive denial.

Position69, while my post may exhibit feminine bias, would you not agree that every stereotype of high school contains a cliche football quaterback and catty cheerleading squad? Correct me if I am mistaken, but is it normal for the bowling team to be more “popular” than the football team?

being popular and smart sucks, none of my friends are in the ap classes i take.
