Posse Scholarship Candidates Fall 2018

@DNoonan Posse cities always pair their highschool graduates with colleges which are out of state. Before the second interview, she will choose a number of colleges from the colleges which partner with your city, and they will pair her with her best fit. In general, they will pair nominees with colleges with which they are good matches, and that includes things like stats - they will avoid pairing a student with a college at which their GPA and SAT/ACT scores would be substantially lower than the average.

If a kid advances to finalist, and chooses to go for the final interview, they apply as ED1, and are fully committed if they are accepted. However, unlike regular ED1, a Posse scholar cannot withdraw for financial reasons. If the kid isn’t chosen as a Posse scholar, they are released from the contract, and their name and Posse profile is sent to all 56 Posse partner colleges, which substantially increases their chances at acceptance to any of these.

@turnertops Check out http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/other-major-scholarships-competitions/1958233-posse-scholarship-ask-away-p7.html The thread has most of the info that you will need.

My main advice for the 2nd interview is to learn about the colleges on the top of your list, and for all of the interviews is to be your best self, and to be the sort of person that you would like to have in your Posse.

Just a quick correction to my previous post - the Houston Posse partners with TAMU, the LA Posse partners with Pepperdine, and the New Orleans Posse actually partners with a college which is not only in-state, but in the same city - Tulane University. So there are a few exceptions.

Are there any current scholars that can list pros and cons?
