Hey guys! I created this thread for anybody still going through the Posse interview process (congrats semifinalists!) or who has some insight they’d like to share. Pls indicate your city when commenting
Posse Chicago: I’ve done DAP2 and am waiting to hear back to see what school I get matched to. My first choice is Cornell so fingers crossed!

I heard back from Posse that I am a finalist for Carleton. It’s obviously a great program, but I’m unsure about it for two main reasons.
1 is the fact that they don't seem to actually have a business major. it's a liberal arts school so maybe thats to be expected but this fact combined with the fact that Carleton is so small means its probably not the most ideal school for me. However, there still seem to be opportunities for business minded students.
2 is the annoying expectations placed by parents to attend "prestigious" schools that I am unlikely to get into. Carleton is apparently not good enough for their tastes but they're simply being unrealistic about the schools I can get into.
There’s many appealing factors such as the full tuition, seemingly inclusive, tight-knit community, and a well-rated campus by both students and outsiders. Also I’m wayy to lazy on my college apps and accepting the finalist nod could lessen my workload (of course, the chances of getting are not guranteed, “only” ~50%)Just goes to show the complexity of making decisions about college apps these days.
Would love to hear from y’all whether you got finalists and the pros/cons of accepting your finalist invite.
I’m in DC and my top choices were Sewanee, Lafayette, and Rochester. Was told during the interview that I had a lot of detail and a lot of energy. I got eliminated. Oh, well.
@prospie2023 My kid heard back - he’s a finalist for Middlebury! We’ll probably see you guys at the Posse Chicago meeting tomorrow…
Congratulations on Cornell! It’s an amazing school. It was initially on my kid’s radar, but he decided that he preferred liberal arts colleges. His top choice was actually Pomona, but Middlebury was #2, and I have a sneaking feeling that Middlebury would be a better fit.
Sorry about the double post, everybody, but I missed the edit window.
@rockstar66 Congratulations on Carleton - I would recommend that you take it. Carleton is a top school, all around, and you may find other things that you like doing.
Congrats! @mwolf it’s has such great language programs. If your son was hoping for Pomona, make sure to do your research that it’s the right school for him!
My friend was in the same situation last year (wanted Pomona / Oberlin) but had a hard time commiting to Middlebury, since it is a very different school than Pomona (chilly Vermont vs sunny cali, isolated vs near LA, plus the support and variety of the Claremont colleges). In the end, his family decided posse was a great program, just not the place he would thrive in for the next 4 years
Does anyone know if all of the finalists from the same city are notified on the same day - or do they stagger them by school? My daughter’s friend heard back today, notified she was a finalist, but we’ve heard nothing yet and are trying to remain hopeful.
What school did your daughter’s friend get? @blanche52 Acceptances get sent out by school, but the meeting for all the Chicago finalists’ families is tonight. Your child could still be in s waiting list though, good luck!
OK, I just thankfully found this Post. My DD is a semifinalist in NY. She was told she would have to go out of state. Cornell is her reach school but it wasn’t on the list of schools. None of the schools really have the major she wants. If she makes it to the final round, does she go to the final round is the school she selected a binding commitment?
Hey, I’m currently part of the DAP process. I had my first interview last week and would LOVE some advice for the second and third, really anything helps. Thank you and congratulations to you all.
