Possibility of Interracial Hooking Up/ Having Long Term Relationships at Colby College

Is it possible for asians/other races to succeed at hooking up at Colby College with the other races on a large scale? Have there been any examples?

I’m afraid to ask what this means…

@GMTplus7 what parts/part do you not understand?

What does “hooking up” mean?

Non-committal sex?

What does “on a large scale” mean?

@GMTplus7 Thank you for this ^ I laughed out loud for five minutes after I read your post.
“Have there been any examples?” LMAO

@OP,

It would be helpful if u exercised more precision in your language.

“with the other races…”?

Is there sexual racism at Colby College? @JustOneDad @GMTplus7 @MathMeany

If there is sexual racism at Colby College, how bad is it?

Are the students of Colby College sexually racist?

By “sexual racist”, do you mean they don’t hook up with other races?

I’m not sure if choosing to be in single racial relationships is “sexually racist.”

When you thought you’ve seen it all, and then somebody asks about “sexual racists”…

The question is somewhat inartfully framed, but I think what the OP is trying to ask is whether interracial dating is common at Colby, and specifically with regard to people of Asian heritage. That is a legitimate question. If anyone has specific knowledge as to the answer, please share. Otherwise, pitch in if you want but stay on this side of the Terms of Service, including staying on topic.

While Colby’s student body is dominated by white New Englanders, a general culture of acceptance is really prevalent here. Interracial dating/hooking up is not seen as a problem/frowned upon by any means, and it is common. Although there is visible clumping of social groups by race, the groups mix and it is seen more of a familiarity-based phenomenon. For example, my roommate last year was from Nanjing, and she told me she hung out with a lot of Chinese students because she said “You really need to be able to talk to your best friend in your mother tongue”. People at Colby are generally very open and accepting, and fight nonstop for ending any sort of racial prejudice not just on campus but in the outside world as well.
