Y'ello all! I'm not sure if there's a special way to post or ask questions on this bored, so I'm just going to wing it.

I'm considered a high school drop-out (I didn't finish my last month of Junior year in high school due to personal problems.) and would most likely be getting a GED this January, when I turn 18, so I can eventually go to college.

The thing is, I'm a resident of Illinois, and I want to be able to go to college with my boyfriend in the middle of next year when he gets out of the Marines. He is set on going to University of Utah, which would be out of state for me. Way out of state!

So I'm wondering if it's possible to receive scholarships with a GED, a ACT composite score of 26, and an incomplete high school history? Or am I not even eligible for most financial aid? I've been looking around at scholarship sites and most state the need for a GPA/high school graduation.

Curious since I'm (hoping!) for a job soon, and would like to know if I should save up as much as I can towards tuition, or if I can worry less and buy some things and save the rest. Thank you in advance!

Non-High School Graduates, Graduates from Non-Accredited High Schools, Home School Students, Utah Students who Receive a Certificate of Completion from a Utah High School may be admitted if their high school class has graduated and they meet the following requirements:

A completed University of Utah Admission Application with the required processing fee.
An ACT composite score of 23 or higher, or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1050 or higher.
An official high school transcript of credit. Home schooled students can submit a list of courses completed through their studies.
Scores from the General Education Development (GED) test. Each of the GED sub scores must be 500 or higher, with a composite score of 550 or higher.
Students whose high school class has graduated and who have an ACT score in the upper quartile (25 ACT, 1130 SAT), will not be required to take the GED. (Please note that students who do not graduate from high school may need to take the GED to qualify for financial aid. Check with the University of Utah Financial Aid Office at 801 581-6211 for more information).

You may be eligible for financial aid, as grades and test scores are not a factor. You likely won’t be eligible for any scholarships, as merit awards tend to be competitive.

Ahh, thank you both for the quick answers!
