Possible Transfer to Cal Poly SLO?

Hi, I am a Senior in high school currently and I am trying to get an idea of what I will be doing for my college career.

I am pretty sure I want to Major in Architecture, however Cal Poly has some good applicant pools that pits me against alot of people that know what they're doing and have much better brag sheets than I do.

So my question:

My local University offers Pre-Architecture for 2 years. This gets you ready for the first 2 years of the 5 year program. After that, you must transfer somewhere to finish the rest of your education. I want this somewhere to be Cal Poly SLO...If I get outstanding grades in the first two years of College, as well as an internship or a job in the inustry that uses architects AND if I get active enough in the community, will Cal Poly SLO see me as a candidate even though my high school career was a bit of a flop?

Current GPA:

3.114

i don't think ur hs GPA will matter. It's college gpa and prereqs for ur major that are important..

maybe u could have tried to apply to cal poly as a different major and then switched?

good luck.

I have applied for Computer Science...but switching majors there is VERY hard so I hear. I dont think my stuff is good enough to get in now though :(

They won't look @ your HS stuff. Just do well in college and you'll have a shot.

They weigh heavily on the course you take in college for transfers, and base them on points. Each major course your missing is minus points. Grades is not the only thing that they look at.

Ok, how about work experience? I plan on getting an internship at a professional office in the city, would that assist in my application?

Yea they take that into account too, but the funny thing is that they don't ask for names or organizations if i remember right. It's just a yes or no answer for work experience in your major.

I don't remember the % break down for all the criteria for GPA, coursework, work/volunteer stuff.

I know that for Freshman, the break down is only 5-10% work/volunteer, 25% SAT/ACT, 30% or so Grades, and some other things that escape me at the moment.

I would assume it's different for transfers though.

go to cuesta college in san luis obispo and hen transfer from there. they know exactly what cal poly wants and have all the pre-requisite courses needed for architecture (some professors are from cal poly!).
cal poly doesnt care about extracurriculars or high-school, all they want is a good college gpa and the prerequisites fulfilled.
