Post-acceptance visits

We did not visit any schools before my daughter applied, so now face the prospect of visiting several. All of them have "accepted student visiting days." I am thinking that visiting on a "regular" day, sitting in on classes, etc., will give a better view of the school than on a packaged visiting day. Anyone have any experience with this? Or thoughts?

(Am also posting this in the parents' forum.)

I've had muuuch better experiences visiting unofficially and arranging with the faculty to shadow a student than attending the official dates. From my perspective, you get a much clearer idea of what the campus is actually like, rather than what the school wants to show you.

What do you typically do on accepted student dates?
