hi,
I am a senior undergrad student graduating in May with a degree in Bio-Psychology. For a long time I didn't think I would be able to handle the stress of med school, especially after not doing well in my intro level bio and chem courses, however after taking upper level anatomy, genetics, and physiology, I realized that I enjoy and can do well in health science classes. That being said, I was not premed going through college and therefore don't have some of the classes I need to apply to med school. A friend of mine recommended that I apply to some post bacc programs to help my GPA and increase my chances of getting into med school. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? My cumulative GPA is a 3.3; I received a C+ in both Bio 1 and Bio 2 (which was cellular and molecular bio), a B- in Gen Chem 1 and a C+ in Gen Chem 2. For upper level bios, I received an A in vertebrate anatomy, genetics, and neuroscience and I am on track to either receive a B+ or A-in Physiology.

Well if you don’t do a post bacc you still have to figure out a way to complete your missing req’s (i.e. orgo and physics). ;)

Instead of a formal postbac program, you can attend an IS public for the courses you need to take or retake. But remember that AMCAS uses all grades for calculating your gpa, it doesn’t do grade replacement (DO schools do use grade replacement).
