Hi, I just came home from a campus tour at Columbia University in NY and am curious to see how Dartmouth compares to it in terms of post-college job opportunities. Until now, Dartmouth has been my top school, but it is getting a little discouraging considering my dad, who is doing exactly what I want to go later in life, has no co-workers from Dartmouth/Tuck, andis surrounded by Columbia, Wharton, Harvard, and Cornell graduates. Considering I see myself starting my independent life in New York City, how does going to Dartmouth's advantages compare to those of Columbia, Cornell, Stern, Penn, CMU, and colleges of such caliber?

In addition, I plan to major in economics, possibly economics-statistics and am currently a junior.

Thanks in advance.

As a person who went to Columbia for a year, transferred to Dartmouth, and got an MBA from Columbia, I can tell you Dartmouth is amazing as far as recruiting goes. Tuck is less NYC based (more Boston), but Dartmouth undergrad has connections into every industry. My fellow alumni have been incredibly successful, just as successful or even more so than my Columbia undergrad friends. Every top firm recruits on campus, internships are everywhere, the Dartmouth career services office is great, and the alumni network is much stronger than Columbia's. Don't worry for even a second.

thanks, this morning meeting had me worried for a sec.

Why did you chose to transfer out of Columbia and to Dartmouth, if you dont mind me asking? It's just that these two schools, however different they may be, are my top two.
