If any of you who have not visited California but wan't to know what LA and San Francisco are like, Play GTA San Andreas, They are almost exactly the Same in atmoshpere and layout.

Not exactly.

actually ArsenalUltra... I used to live near Stanford and I can tell you that after living here on the east coast too that you'll be the one who'll get a culture shock. Northern Cali is not all that laid back at all... I mean Silicon Valley - how can it be?
Plus, you won't believe the pot smoking, partying, materialistic people here on the east coast. Teenagers will be teenagers - doesn't matter what state they're in.

Harvard.

It's close between H and Stanford. New Haven ruins Yale for me. Princeton I hate for a variety of reasons. It's far behind.

Cambridge, the "City of Squares," is just across the Charles River from Boston, but sometimes it seems like another continent.

'Nuff said.

Put me down for Stanford.

Yeah Princeton is way too elitist for me.

I've researched about the eating clubs and believe me it's definately not an environment I want to be apart of.

ArsenalUltra:

"However, outside of Stanford it will most likely be too laid back for you. If you are one of those very politically, academically motivated people you will hate the pot smoking, surfing, materialistic, partying, and snobbish atmosphere that is California. Trust me, I have lived here for my whole life and even the 4.0 students here (excluding a few) couldn't care less about academics or politics. "

If you come to the east coast, believe me, you'll find similar things that you won't like. Don't think it's only california that has its problems when many East Coast students would dream to go there to get away from the edgy/uptight/rude/stressed atmosphere of the east coast.

ArsenalUltra, after living 8 years ON Stanford campus, and now living at in Boston where my dad chaired at Harvard Medical Center/Cambridge Hospital, I can tell you that (a) Stanford is much more layed back, serene atmosphere than it's three counterparts, HYP, and that (B) your genralized characterization of Stanford as a pot smoking, surfing, materialistic, partying, and snobbish atmosphere is hogwash!

Stanford is so huge that it is also one of the few school where you can completely segreate yourself from the unwanted.

Living in UJAMAA at Stanford for instance, the parties seldom were beer drenched and it was a real party, people who could actually dance, to the early morning, I mean really, none of the Animal House Non-sense,vand don't go saying the punch must have been spiked, b/c at age 8, I was drinking it. Those are real parties, one of the reasons I loved Stanford.

creative1's post makes me happy that im gonna be at stanford and not harvard

People sometimes use the term "laid back" in two different ways, and there may be some confusion here. Stanford and California are indeed laid back in the sense of being casual, open, and friendly as opposed to formal or tightly-wound. But they are not laid back in the sense of being lazy slackers. If you go to school at Stanford you will work very hard.

I think people on the east coast mean you get high alot at Stanford parties but in Boston its about beer. Everyone works hard but I think in Calif. you work hard in the sunshine and you feel like youre on vacation.

Stanford: 14

Princeton: 11

Harvard: 10

Yale: 4

you counted someone twice on stanford not right

Princeton Location Education Nyc Philly

Harvard for location, campus, feel, and astrophysics ;)

Harvard for same reasons GuitarManARS put up except astrophysics (I know very little about it), but including MBB program and PEOPLE.

Oh, yeah, right. The people :p Forgot about that. But come now, every college has lotsa good people ;)

haha...you're right...if I knew the "smiley face" function thing, I would do it.

Stanford just for the Californian sun

Stanford.

1) Engineering.
2) California.
