What is post Middlebury like? Are future prospects good?

kind of a broad question AlexSon. Prospects are not great right now, no matter what college you’ve attended, but I believe things are getting better. In my business, all my clients seem to be feeling more optimistic and I think that’s catching on.

If you’re applying to grad school, like so many Midd grads do, you’re in a good place. While competition for grad school spots is high right now, your education and the Middlebury name place you in high regard with grad school admissions. Every year Middlebury graduates go off to some of the best grad schools in the country and that’s only getting better from what I’ve been hearing. As far as job placement is concerned, again, it’s a tough market right now, but on campus recruiting is strong. Students regularly head to Wall Street and DC. I don’t know what it’s like now, but when I graduated most students headed to NYC or DC, most often with job offers in hand.

More importantly, however, Middlebury prepares you with the skills to think for yourself, analyze information, and express yourself. With those skills, any employer willing to give you a chance will be thrilled with the results. I continue to believe that’s the best thing about graduating from a top LAC. All Middlebury’s peer schools will give you that level of prestige to compete strongly for jobs and grad school positions, but I really felt prepared for the world when I graduated and again, once I arrived at Grad school. Middlebury students tend to be entrepreneurial, risk-takers as a result of the confidence developed from having survived 4 years at Middlebury. They tend to have a better understanding of who they are and what they want out of a career. Because of this they’re often called in unique directions. It’s not unusual for Midd grads to avoid the “safe” jobs in corporate america or the “safe” path of Business or Law school (although, when they do choose that path they’re very successful). Hope that helps.
