Postcard?

What a wonderful surprise in the mail! My daughter happened to be wearing a William and Mary t-shirt when she received her postcard, and she is taking that as a sign. She looks forward to visiting!

@floraandfauna, what a happy coincidence!

@blueiguana, our IT team said just to use the RSS button we mentioned and then to simply choose an RSS tool that sends you an email when a new post is added. Hope that helps.

I just got my postcard today! Thank you W&M. It’s such a sweet and personal gesture.

Way to go @eniloracw. We’re glad we could help make the process more personal.

W&M - thanks for following up with IT, much appreciated. I did add an RSS a while ago for this purpose. I’ll have to see if it has an email notification option.

This is such a happy thread hearing all of the students report in about their postcards! Congratulations to all!!

Did the postcard really say “Williams?”

I got my postcard last Saturday too! It made my entire day! William and Mary really knows how hard it is to wait until April!

I was just wondering, are these postcards basically saying that we are in, or should we still be cautious about raising our hopes up too much? This is one of my top schools so I would really like to know!

Unless you totally blow your first semester grades you are in if you got this card. Congrats! And Let’s Go Tribe!

@GolfFather, the postcard says continue at William & Mary (no “s”). Think that was just a typo by a previous poster.

@eva1995, check out our blog about the postcards ([W&M Blogs Postcards from the College](http://blogs.wm.edu/2013/01/22/postcards-from-the-college/)). It answers a lot of questions about this part of our process. As we say in the blog, nothing is official until you get an actual decision but we wouldn’t send the postcard to students who we intend to waitlist or deny (that would just be mean right?).

Got my postcard today, with a handwritten note! I’m so happy, thanks for the gesture!!

way to go @harborceal!

Thanks for the updates, “W&M Admission”. My daughter was delighted to receive the postcard and note last weekend!!

I understand that you don’t want to send these postcards and then waitlist or reject a student’s application. But I can’t tell from your posts how often you have to do that. I’m hoping it’s possible for you to respond to the questions below:

If a student’s grades stay the same or improve and there’s no change in activities, etc., will that student be accepted?

Roughly how often do you send the postcard and then waitlist or reject students?

I appreciate your informative updates!

@Arlmom2, the applicants who receive a postcard are so outstanding in every respect that we have no doubt they’ll continue to perform at the levels demonstrated in their application. They generally also have such a sustained record of good grades and exemplary personal conduct that they give us no cause to worry something may change. No of course there’s an exception to every rule and should something change drastically from what was provided in the application the postcard does not bind us to making an admission offer.

Just trust us that we send postcards to students who we have absolutely every intention of sending more good news too. Something incredible would have to happen for that to change (meaning a dramatic drop in grades or something like a suspension).

@W&M Admission – Superb! Thanks so much for your reassuring reply. That’s terrific news. And thanks again for all of your updates. She’s our first, so this is all a grand experiment.

If I have not gotten a postcard yet, it is still possible that I might be getting one?

Yes, @eschaef, they’re still sending them out. According to the Admissions blog, they send them out for several weeks, and they started in late January:
[W&M Blogs Postcards from the College](http://blogs.wm.edu/2013/01/22/postcards-from-the-college/)

In this post on 4 February, they said they’ll be sending them out for another few weeks:

Remember that some of this is simply luck of the draw – whose file was read first.

Are you a US student? It sounds as though they don’t tend to send postcards to international addresses, since postcards can take weeks to arrive.

Yes, I am applying from NJ. I think this whole postcard concept is cool…even cooler if you get one. haha

@eschaef, it is likely that we will send our last batch of postcards next week.

May I ask if you review alphabetically, or by order of submission, or chance, or… ?
