Potential Biomedical Engineering?

Recently I’ve been interested in pursuing biomedical technology. From what I’ve read, biomedical engineering seems like a good starting place; however, it’s not supposed to be good for getting into med school. As an alternative, supposedly it isn’t a good undergraduate degree for industry. I am really interested in engineering and medical school, but I can’t seem to find a lot of information in that area. What are your opinions and what schools would help me achieve this?

“I’ve been interested in pursuing biomedical technology.” - Can you explain more about your goals? That should help you get better advise.

?

Specifically, research into technology that will help patients (clinical engineering). Thank you for replying!

The very first question you need to ask yourself is this: “Do I want to be an engineer or do I want to be a doctor?”

What @eyemgh said  If you are looking for a back up to go to Med school, Biomed engineering may not be the best choice because it is hard to get/keep a high GPA. So are you a Pre-med who is interested in engineering or are you an Engineer who would also like to apply to med school.

Second, many on this forum suggest getting an undergrad in Mech Eng and then getting a Masters in Biomed because it is broader. In order to work in Biomed you will need a Masters. Under grad Biomed sacrifices some regular engineering courses to cover the Biomed classes.

So, if it is Biomed you want, be prepared to not get into Med School and do plan to go on for a Masters degree.
