PR for Physics?

Are the practice questions in PR easier or harder than the real test? I've heard that they are extremely unsimilar, but I still want to know about the comparative difficulty.

Difficulty is about the same I guess, but PR's practice questions are too different from the real one to determine relative difficulty.

what about Kaplan phys book?

i just finished the kaplan book and am taking the phys on saturday...they give 4 'real' practice tests in the review book, which seemed very realistic, but im not sure how similar it is to the real thing. i'll let you know

well I've been looking at both kaplan and pr, i found a lot of equations in pr aren't covered in kaplan, like the equations for electormagnetic induction and the relationship between nodes and frequency for standing waves. I really hope the test's difficulty level is more like kaplans cuz otherwise, im screwd o_0!

hopefully the electromagnetic induction equation isnt needed, because a calc would probably be needed to make it a quick equation. therefore, im thinking that the only q's dealing with the equation will ask something about the effect of more coils of wire, the addition of a soft iron core, or movement of the magnet through the wire...i've seen multiple practice problems about switching the direction of the magnet throught the wire resulting in a change of direction of current

Is Barron's book ok or just plain too much?

So what prep book do people recommend for SAT2 Physics?

I really need to know becuase I need to start studying for it asap.

the barron one seems pretty good

Anyone know scale for Baron's test? I don't know if im scoring at 200 or 800.

Also does anyone know the scale for the actual SAT subject test? How many wrong can you get and still get 800?

i'm pretty sure it varies from year to year depending on how hard that year's test was

In what way is the PR very different from actual thing? That's all I have to study with (for tomorrow)!

I thought the PR questions were pretty similar to the real thing. I was getting in the low 700's with the PR book and I got a 660 on the real thing (I consider that pretty accurate).

This is what I've gathered from all my skimming of all the SAT2 Physics topics on CC.

Barron's - terrible
PR - Good review but the tests are far different from the actual thing
Kaplan - Tests are a bit better but the review isn't as good

So which should I choose? =O

bump 10 char

i used the sparknotes book, comes with 3 practice tests

So PR is not dependable because its exams are not at all like the collegeboard's? Are kaplan's tests too easy in comparison to the real tests, and is the kaplan review useless?

I actually used the PR book and felt quite well prepared when I took the actual thing. The questions were not too different either in my experience. However, I'm sure using PR for the review and the collegeboard book to supplement the studying with real tests is probably the best way to go.
