I'm an Australian studying a Bachelor of Laws here in Melbourne. I know that the vast majority of US states only allow people with a JD to sit the bar exam and practice, however the state of New York as far as I know is an exception (they let you sit the bar with a LLB).

Whilst this is the case, I was wondering if in reality there is any chance an Australian with an LLB would be employed in NY. The job market would be competitive enough as it is and I can't seem to envisage the necessity for Australian trained lawyers in NY.

Anyone have any thoughts/knowledge about this?
