Well, I guess I'll start the Fall 2014 acceptance thread off. My daughter was accepted to Pratt's Interior Design program, and just received her acceptance packet in the mail. The nice thing is that they also include the merit aid awarded in the same packet as your acceptance. The award makes Pratt very competitive, price-wise. We've visited Pratt, as well as most other schools to which she is applying. So far she's been accepted at Pratt, SCAD, Auburn, Cincinnati's DAAP, and K-State, all of which have very good IntD programs. We are awaiting merit aid figures from all before making the final decision. Her stats: 30 ACT Composite, 3.93 UW GPA, Good Portfolio (IMHO). Good luck to all!

Son was accepted to Pratt’s Industrial Design Program yesterday. We are awaiting merit aid figures. He was accepted into UC DAAP, VT, Syracuse and RIT all for Industrial Design.

I’m an international student and I’ve received my pratt package today, but I was kinda confused because I didn’t see any scholarship offer inside the package? Does this mean that I received none? Or do they post it online or something?

My D was accepted to Pratt for a BFA Painting on Mar 25 (10 days ago) regular decision via E-mail. Still no aid package as of April 4. She attended the pre-college summer program and loved it (as well as New York).

Any one know when they send the scholarship/merit/loan package stuff out?

We still haven’t seen any U.S. mail at all, e.g. letters let alone a packet with scholarship/merit/loan information. I think that in Balthezar’s case here D might have been ED or EA.

I asked over the weekend if all the financial aid packages been mailed yet - so as of April 7, 2014 here is the answer:

“No, they are mailed in large batches, so it may have only been mailed recently and takes up to 2 weeks to arrive. but [they] should be on your way very soon, if not already.”

Note if you are EA at Pratt you should double check your award - I found out that there seems to have been some reduced (or revoked) merit awards <a href=“Illustration major... SVA or PRATT with Presidential Merit Scholarship - #11 by ArtStudent1995 - Visual Arts and Film Majors - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/17135576 . This appears to have only impacted EA decisions due to some sort of “calculation mistake”, Pratt says it does not impact regular decision.

I can confirm the award miscalculation. Aside from the evident administrative ineptitude, The 25% reduction in award, took pratt from a finalist to a thanks but no thanks school for my daughter. Responsiveness of her assigned admissions representative was slow to non-responsive over multiple emails. In addition, there’s absolutely no conversation, excitement, or vibe emanating from the web regarding Pratt. Don’t get me wrong. Pratt is still a great choice for some, but my daughter found admissions & financial aid to be both distant and unprofessional, and that reflects poorly on the school as a whole. The final nail in the coffin was, “Oops! We made a mistake on your aid award, several weeks after making the award…sorry.”. Oh OK, well, see ya!
