I want to apply to Binghamton as a pre med, but my bio teacher told me it wasn't a good idea because there aren't any medical centers on campus to help yiou get volunteer experience. Is this true? I know that volunteering at a hospital shows great initiative when applying to med schools so I don't want to lack that.

There are plenty of local area hospitals where you can volunteer (Lourdes, Binghamton General). You can also volunteer as a member of the student-run ambulance corp., Harpur’s Ferry, as a member of the crisis hotline, High Hopes, or join one of several pre-med societies on campus which can most likely inform you about volunteer opportunities.

Just because we don’t have a specific hospital attached to Bing, doesn’t mean you can’t volunteer.

okay thanks
and do you know anything about the acceptance rates for the early assurance med programs?? both for SUNY Upstate medical and SUNY Buffalo??

No, I don’t really know. I’m not a pre-med, just someone who knows a lot about the campus.

alright thanks so much anyway!
