Pre-Med Christian Colleges: Worth the Debt?

Just throwing out some Christian schools, no idea about the cost or ranking - Texas Christian, Oral Roberts, Colorado Christian.

As a resident of Texas, I can safely say the TCU & SMU aren’t really “Christian” schools despite having Christian and Methodist in the names. Baylor qualifies as would Abilene Christian

Most students wouldn’t stay on pre-Med track. Ones who stay, most of them wouldn’t get accepted into a medical school.

Medical school is a hypothetical future scenario, getting a good undergrad education at a Christian school is a current reality. If your parents can afford it and it matters to them then it’s worth it.

@Riversider The OP states in their first post that a school like Baylor will give them 40K+/year of debt. This likely means they can’t afford it… and the OP can’t take out that much in loans by themselves anyway. Even if the parents qualify for that much the first year, nothing is guaranteed about qualifying for it the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th years and no one I know IRL would suggest 160K+ in debt for an undergrad education - esp if thinking med school might come afterward.

There are other schools that could be affordable, but there aren’t all that many Christian Colleges that offer huge amounts of financial aid. Most offer some, but the need is significant if you read through the thread (even skimming looking for the OP’s posts).

Apply. Get your acceptances and financial offers. Compare cost. Ask parents if they are willing to pay extra for religious school, if they want to then go to religious school, if they won’t then go for school where you can get enough aid/merit to avoid debt. No rush to decide now.

Just incase any of you guys may have wanted an update, I talked to my parent’s and the plan is for me to go to LSU. So that’s awesome. Thanks for all of the suggestions!
